With the UK's 10 year Section 82 Continuous Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) programme now underway, water companies are rapidly scaling monitoring networks across AMP8 and planning for continued compliance into AMP9 and beyond.

At WWEM 2026Xylem will showcase how its HydroDaaS (Data as a Service) offering is helping utilities deliver reliable, compliant and scalable monitoring programmes through a combination of field proven hardware, calibration services, cloud analytics and ongoing operational support.

Taking centre stage on Stand WW-L84 will be the latest HydroRIG-PK Solar Pumped Kiosk, a compact, modular and RPS333 compliant solution designed specifically for Section 82 river monitoring applications.

Developed using lessons learned from decades of environmental monitoring and recent CWQM pilot schemes, the HydroRIG-PK is ideal for locations where shallow water, steep riverbanks, dense vegetation, high vandalism risk or long distances between the river and monitoring location make traditional installations difficult.

The HydroRIG-PK combines a secure anti-vandal kiosk, integrated solar power, smart logic peristaltic pump flow cell technology and concrete free installation, providing a low impact monitoring solution that can be rapidly deployed across large scale programmes. A key benefit is improved health and safety, allowing routine servicing and sonde changeovers to be completed from the riverbank without entering the water.

At the heart of every HydroRIG-PK is the YSI EXO2S multiparameter sonde, widely recognised as one of the water industry's most trusted platforms for continuous environmental monitoring. The EXO2S measures all key Section 82 parameters including dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity, pH, turbidity, ammonium and ammonia, while its industry leading anti-fouling central wiper technology helps maintain high quality data integrity during long term deployments.

However, successful Section 82 delivery is about far more than hardware.

Xylem's HydroDaaS solution provides a complete end-to-end service, allowing water companies to purchase environmental outcomes rather than simply equipment. From site surveys, installation and commissioning through to ISO ready laboratory calibration, maintenance, data management, cloud visualisation and reporting, HydroDaaS simplifies programme delivery while ensuring trusted, traceable and regulator ready data.

Built around the HydroSphere cloud platform, HydroDaaS delivers near real-time data, API connectivity, smart alarms, catchment intelligence tools and full asset traceability throughout the monitoring lifecycle. Whether customers require a fully outsourced OpEx model or a hybrid approach, HydroDaaS provides the flexibility and scalability needed for national scale monitoring programmes.

As the industry's Section 82 monitoring obligations continue to grow throughout AMP8 and AMP9, water companies need solutions that are proven, repeatable and capable of delivering data confidence at scale.
