As industrial businesses face growing pressure to reduce operating costs and carbon emissions, FE by France Evaporation is highlighting a new approach to process heat through its MVR Heat Pump Boiler technology.
Combining Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) with High-Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP), the technology is designed to recover waste energy and turn it into useful heat, helping industrial sites reduce their reliance on fossil fuels while improving overall energy efficiency.
The system can be applied across a wide range of industrial processes and sectors. It can recover low-temperature waste heat from sources including air, water and fumes, before raising it to usable process temperatures through a thermodynamic compression cycle.
According to FE by France Evaporation, the MVR Heat Pump Boiler can form part of a wider energy loop, recovering heat from different areas of an industrial site and supplying steam or hot water back into existing processes. This means it can act as an alternative to gas boilers while making greater use of energy that would otherwise be lost.
The technology can also be used across applications including dryers, spray drying systems, sterilisation and fermentation processes, hot effluent recovery and cooling tower networks.
FE says the approach can deliver steam at temperatures from 50°C to 200°C, while the heat pump element can work with heat sources from as low as 20°C. Depending on the application, the company says the system can achieve a COP of up to 50.
A key part of FE's approach is testing and validation before a project is installed. Its dedicated pilot test hall is designed to replicate future operating conditions, allowing its teams to assess thermochemical data, product behaviour and other process parameters before moving through detailed engineering, installation and commissioning.
The company also offers flexible mobile units for businesses facing space, time or budget constraints, which can be deployed within a few working days for periods ranging from two weeks to several months.
FE by France Evaporation says it can also support businesses in identifying available subsidies and energy efficiency certificates, alongside third-party funding options designed to help reduce the upfront cost of low-carbon projects.
