As AMP8 drives investment in reducing CSO discharges, improving environmental performance and increasing network resilience, Butek Tanks, a specialist division of Butyl Products Ltd, delivers integrated solutions for temporary wastewater treatment and stormwater storage.
Our Modular Wastewater System (MWS) provides a rapidly deployable treatment solution for planned maintenance, emergency response and capacity shortfalls. Developed in 2006 for humanitarian aid, it has proven its reliability in demanding environments worldwide. Following severe flooding in Germany's Ahr Valley in 2021, the MWS restored treatment capacity after three wastewater treatment works were lost and continues to operate successfully while permanent infrastructure is rebuilt.
Supplied in modular kit form, a 1,000 Population Equivalent (PE) system is held in UK stock and can typically be installed within 14 days, subject to site conditions. Using energy-efficient mechanical, biological and chemical treatment with optional tertiary processes, the MWS provides a flexible, scalable solution that reduces tanker movements while maintaining environmental compliance.
Complementing the MWS, Butek Tanks manufactures above-ground stormwater and wastewater storage tanks engineered for long-term performance. Constructed from galvanised steel and lined with Landflex™ ES reinforced geomembranes, they provide excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, urban runoff and wastewater contaminants. The lining system is backed by a 10-year warranty, while the tanks are engineered with a 20+ year design life, providing a durable, low-maintenance solution for temporary and permanent installations. Our above-ground steel tanks have also been appointed to a major UK water company framework, enabling Tier 1 contractors to procure compliant storage solutions quickly for AMP8 projects.
Visit Butek Tanks at the WWEM Exhibition, 16–17 September, Stand WW-T70, to see our demonstration tanks and discuss how our MWS and storage solutions can deliver resilient, compliant and cost-effective infrastructure for AMP8 and beyond.
