After retiring from a career as a police detective Stuart Hoyle joined the Environment Agency as an investigator in 2015. Stuart began working as an Environment Agency Waste Crime Engagement Specialist when the role was created in 2019.

Stuart and the EA's other Waste Crime Engagement Specialists work with Local Authorities and other enforcement partners, the waste industry, and a wide range stakeholders to prevent and disrupt waste crime through engagement.

Stuart is Vice Chair of the Lincolnshire Environmental Crime Partnership, an active member of multiple partnerships and is the EA's Single Point of Contact at the Waste Compliance Taskforce.
