Phil joined Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service in 1993 and worked in a number of operational firefighting roles across the service, before working within the Fire Safety Department. In 2003, Phil completed a B Eng Hons Degree in Fire Engineering at University of Central Lancashire and was promoted to Head of Fire Safety. Phil then held a number of AM posts across Tyne and Wear before being seconded to NFCC in 2022. Since June 2022, Phil has performed the role of Emerging Energy Technology Lead for NFCC. His work spans the full remit of Prevention, Protection and Response as well as supporting Industry and numerous Government Departments.
